The Reflex nitrogen-filled heating expansion vessel range by Altecnic is suitable for use with most heating or cooling systems. The vessels are manufactured to strict PED 97/23/EC Directive and BS EN 13831:2007 'Closed expansion vessels with built in diaphragm for installation in water' standards and tested according to the Pressure Systems Directive. They're available in a wide range of sizes, from 8 litres to more than 800 litres, making them a versatile, convenient solution. The vessels are made by welding the sections together, resulting in a sturdy, reliable structure suitable for internal pressures up to 3 bar for smaller sizes and 6 bar for larger sizes as well as flow temperatures of up to 120°C. They feature a non-replaceable diaphragm and grey-coated epoxy.
But that's not all! Reflex vessels have low glass permeability and are resistant to ethylene or propylene glycol mixtures. In addition, there are many benefits to using nitrogen in the vessels. To begin with, nitrogen improves the vessel life span by reducing corrosion inside the vessel and prevents loss of pre-charge pressure. It also permeates through rubber slower than oxygen and is far less reactive to both steel and aluminium, creating fewer debris inside the vessel. Last but not least, nitrogen does not degrade rubber, prolonging the membrane life.
