Free of maintenance and easy to install in all orientations, this Altecnic Caleffi Shock Arrestor is suited to a single outlet or a little band of services. When fitted close to a tap or valve, it reduces the shock and vibration from water hammer to prevent the splitting and cracking of pipe fittings.
Using a piston with two 'O' ring seals, this brass-made product has a split cylinder with two chambers: one closed and one open. The closed chamber holds compressed air and performs as a damper, while the open chamber attaches to the system and contains water. In the event of a pressure surge, force from the spring and compressed air counteracts the thrust on the piston. This permits a slight shift in volume and excess pressure is absorbed.
Single outlets include a tap or washing machine. A little group of services includes a bathroom supplied via a manifold.
